This fabulous Antique Victorian 9ct Gold back and front on Silver heart Locket is Circa 1900.

Set with a rich red Ruby star in the centre and a crescent moon decorated in white Paste Stones.

Star and Moon images became popular during the late 19th Century as an interest in astronomy grew. Stars symbolise guidance and are seen to lead you in the direction you are meant to go.

The Ruby is considered to be the most powerful gem of the universe, given as a gift, the ruby is a symbol of friendship and love. Ruby is also the symbol of vitality and loyalty.

Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that simulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones. They sparkle just like Diamonds, captivating the allure of natures beauty.

This lovely locket contains two black and white photographs of children which are both original to the piece.

All set in 9ct Gold back and front on Silver and complete with hallmarks on the reverse.

Purchased in London and steeped in English history.
